About Me

I’m Sadie Anderson and I’m playing in my first Island Games at 18 years old. I started playing football when I was 12. I’ve played with the girls in the boys league in each age group as we moved up with a few trips to the mainland to play girls teams. I started playing for the women’s team as well when I was 14 and scored the first goal in the women’s Intercounty against Orkney. A year later at the next women’s Intercounty held in Shetland I was awarded Player of the Match. I was captain for the U17’s/U18’s where we competed in leagues on the mainland and won 2 Intercountys. At the end of the season I was awarded Player of the Year. Our girls team also collected Young Team of the Year at the Shetland Sport Awards a few months later.
